Follow your heart...

Cheesy right? If you didn't know me when I was a teenager, I was a cheese ball.

I believed in following your heart, looking for signs everywhere. If it was meant to be it will be, and always expecting that my life would turn out like a movie. The guy that had ignored me will finally come to his senses and realize he's in love with me and we'll live happily ever after...

Well, I still believe in all of that, just kinda different :-)
I've seen the girl who was ignored get the guy of her dreams. I've seen the best friend go from friend to spouse. And my life did turn out happily ever after. But not because of my husband (even though I love him!!) its because of my Savior. He noticed me, he fell in love with me, and I fell in love with Him, and because of that, I get to live happily ever after.

We've been studying cravings and desire in our Follow Me study... that's right you heard me, we are studying cravings and desire in CHURCH! That's because, what I've learned, is that we have these cravings and desires for a reason! Not because God wants to mess with us and give us these wants for things we aren't supposed to have, like a test... no! The Bible says trust in the Lord with all your heart and He will give you the desires of your heart. Because when you are trusting in Him and desiring Him and abiding in Him, most likely your desires are the same ones that He has for you! God wants us to find that one person we are meant to be with. He created that person for you, so to desire that is good! To pursue that is good! Craving love is good, and created by God!

So I believe in following your heart still, if Christ is leading your heart. I don't believe in following your flesh, following your pride, your greed.... sometimes we have times in our lives when we just have a craving for something. Food, sex, fun, a trip, a move, a baby... whatever you are craving, try to figure out why you are craving it! Our cravings and desires come from God, so I'm sure there is something there that He is trying to communicate with you.

Now lets be honest here (do we have to?!?!) Sometimes we want things we shouldn't. Food we know we shouldn't eat. People we know we shouldn't have relationships with. Activities we know we shouldn't be involved in. Do those cravings come from God? No, of course not. But I think in those situations, there is a deeper craving that you are covering up with a fast "easy" fix. Take food for example, which is very practical for me. Why do I want that bowl if ice cream? Because when I eat it, it tastes good and make me feel happy... for a minute. Then its gone and I'm thinking about the next thing I can eat to make me feel happy again. Or what about activities? Practical for me, too. Why do I volunteer to be involved in so many things. Because it feels good when people praise you for a good job. But when that job is done, I'm looking for the next "good job" I can do. There are deeper cravings here that God gives us so that we might seek Him. To find our complete joy and CONTENTMENT (big problem for a lot of people including me) in what we have and what He offers. He has plenty of jobs for me to do and as a Christian I should be longing to hear Him say well done good a faithful servant.

This is just me writing out some thoughts. I'm really trying to be open and receptive to all that God is telling me through this study, through the situations He gives to me, through the people He puts in my life, We talked about giving Him a blank check for my life. That means, whatever you want from me you got it. Want me to move, lets go. Want me to sign up for this, You got it. Want me to adopt, start the process. Want me to give to mission, sign the check. Want me to start a ministry, lets talk and get it going.

Blank Check. Signed.
