Comfy White Couches

Yep. That's what I'm writing about right now.
I love my white couches. I've always wanted white couches, but I never thought I would be able to get them. For many reasons. One being that I have children, and lets face it, children ruin all nice things. My white couches are no exception. They have been scribbled on with every kind of coloring or writing utensil. They have had every kind of food and drink spilled on them. And of course they have seen their fair share of accidents. Another reason I never thought I'd see white couches is because, lets face it, we don't have the kind of money it takes to buy a new furniture set. We were using my in-laws 20+ year old green couches. I tried to make them look nice with slipcovers, which helped, but there is only so much you can do!
So the day came when my husband told me we could buy new living room furniture. I could go on line and pick out whichever kind I wanted... I knew instantly what it would be! WHITE!

You see, this white furniture is just a piece of my dream. To me, white furniture belongs in a beach house. In my beach house. Where my balcony has a beautiful ocean view. Where I can go out there and feed my soul with the sight and sound of the waves. I can sit out there and read or draw or write. It inspires me. I rejuvenates me. It soothes me. My husband and I take walks on the beach every evening. Exercise isn't so bad out there. We have dinner as a family on the porch while the sun sets. The kids and I have a tradition to go seashells hunting the first Saturday of every month. We of course have jobs, how else will we pay for this life? We own a bookstore/coffee house where you can sit and read, hunt for the perfect book, or even stop by for live music on the weekends. I've of course perfected my Frappuccino recipe and no where else can you get the perfect bowl of banana pudding. My kids grow up with a love for reading and also have a family business they can learn to value of a dollar in. We host a couples Bible study in the store every Tuesday night where some of our best friends get together and we mull over every word of the scripture we are studying that night. lots of great conversations, lots of laughter, lots of love. This, is my dream.

So when you come over and see my white furniture, know that there is much more behind it than that. I've got a part of my dream. I've got the husband, I've got the great kids, I'm trying to raise them with the same love of books and value of a dollar. We're getting there. And whether or not I ever get that beautiful beach house, I'm fine with the little house in the country. Because, there I can have great conversations, lots of laughter, and lots of love.

And my comfy white couch to remind me to always dream.
